Abstract

Energy conversion material is material that requires a more detailed and broad understanding and explanation of the material. To be able to improve students' understanding, a discovery learning model teaching material is needed through a scientific approach oriented to problems related to real life. The purpose of this study is to produce teaching materials that are valid, practical and effective in the field. This type of research is research and development  with a 4-D (four-D) development model. The subjects of this study were students of class X Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering Vocational High School 1 Padang. The instruments used were validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results obtained from this development research are as follows: (1) Generating teaching materials for discovery learning models through a scientific approach. (2) The results of the analysis of the validity of teaching materials to experts obtained an average of 0.910> 0.667 with a valid category, (3) The results of the practicality analysis of teaching materials from the teacher's response were 87.33% with a very practical category and students' responses were 91.26% with a very practical category (4) The results of the analysis of the effectiveness of teaching materials are assessed from the results of the pretest and posttest, the gained score is 0.59 in the medium category. The study provides evidence that discovery learning model teaching material through scientific approach is valid, practical and effective to use.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of brain based learning models assisted by crossword puzzles on the understanding of concepts and critical thinking skills in science. This research is a quasi-experimental study (quasi-experimental), with a non-equivalent post-test only control group design. The population of this study was the entire class V of SDN Cluster VIII Buleleng District in the academic year 2019/2020 consisting of 5 classes in five elementary schools with 129 students. Samples were taken with a random sampling technique of 2 classes. Data on understanding concepts and critical thinking skills in science is collected using the test method in the form of an essay test. Data were analyzed with the MANOVA test using SPSS 17 for Windows. The results showed that 1) there was a positive influence on the brain based learning model with the help of crossword puzzles on the understanding of the science concept (F count of 276,585; sig = 0,000 <0.05); 2) there is a positive influence of the brain based learning learning model assisted by the crossword puzzle media on critical thinking skills in science (F count is 238,963; sig = 0,000 <0.05); 3) there is a positive influence on brain based learning models assisted by the crossword puzzle media on the understanding of concepts and critical thinking skills in science (F count of 231.064; sig = 0.0001 <0.05). The brain based learning model with the help of crossword media can be applied to science learning in elementary schools as an effort to increase students' understanding of concepts and critical thinking skills maximally in science lessons.

Abstract

The aimed of this study was to develop blended learning for Chassis Maintenance and Light Vehicle Power Transfer subject for second-grade students of light vehicle engineering major at Dewantara vocational school which is expected to help students and teacher in the learning process as a learning strategy to overcome the problem of lack of face-to-face time in class. The procedure for developing blended learning used the ADDIE model which is integrated with PEDATI at the instructional design stage. Data collection techniques are done by observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques used qualitative and quantitative descriptive data analysis. Based on the results of the feasibility analysis from the material expert, the percentage of achievement level is 91.67% with a very good qualifications and appropriate to be used with revisions as needed, based on the results of the feasibility analysis from media expert, the percentage of achievement level is 80% with a good qualifications, and feasible to be used with revisions as needed, and based on the results of the feasibility analysis from the instructional design expert the percentage of achievement level is 96.47% with a very good qualifications, and feasible to use without any revisions. The development of blended learning will be very effective for the achievement of learning objectives optimally and efficiency in the use of learning time in class. This result implies that the blended learning is feasible to facilitate learning especially in limited learning time at school.

Abstract

The problem in this research is that e-learning has not been fully implemented by all lecturers of FT UNP, the low participation of lecturers in uploading lecture material using e-learning at FT UNP, the low participation of students in downloading lecture material using e-learning at FT UNP, there is a gap in take advantage of e-learning between students and other students at FT UNP and there has never been an evaluation of the implementation of e-learning at FT UNP. The purpose of this research is to explain the implementation of e-learning in terms of context, input, process and product components. The results obtained from this study can be concluded that the context, input, process, and results component on the implementation of e-learning in the Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University are in good category. Process and outcome components need to be improved, so that the implementation of e-learning can be carried out optimally. Based on the findings of this study, it can be recommended that the implementation of e-learning can be continued by making improvements to each of its components.

Abstract

This study aims to design and build Augmented Reality (AR) - Based Learning Media on the Subject of Computer Network Installation, and analyze the validity and effectiveness of the media developed. The development model used in this study is the 4D (four-D) development model that starts from the defining, desiging, development and disseminate stages. Media validation was carried out by experts namely lecturers of the Department of Informatics Education, Department of Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Padang, who took the practical work subject of Computer Network Installation in the semester on January-June 2020. The results of this study are in the form of a blue print of media design, a job sheet book of AR-based Computer Network Installation and its application which is published on the Google Play Store under the name AR_JARKOM_INFORMATIKA-UNP. AR - Based Learning Media of Computer Network Installation is able to present practical work devices in the form of 3D virtual objects and video tutorials, so that this learning media has good mobility, independence, and interactivity in supporting independent learning. Furthermore AR - Based Learning Media on the Computer Network Installation is categorized valid from the design side with a value of 0.875 and valid from the material side with a value of 0.827. Then the use of AR-based learning media is more effective than print-based learning media based on trial data with a practical success rate of 71.79% for AR-based media and 60.92% for print-based media. So based on data from the results of this study, the learning media of AR-based Computer Network Installation is categorized as an appropriate and effective learning media to be used in practical work learning of Computer Network Installation.

Abstract

The 21st-century learning outcomes are essential to be achieved by the students nowadays. A lesson plan is one of the mediums used to insert the skills of the 21st century, which needed to be improved by the students. This study examined English teachers’ readiness in inserting the 21st-century skills in planning the lesson in the city area and suburb area of Badung Regency. This study belonged to a case study and was conducted using a sequential embedded mixed-method, in which mixed the quantitative results with qualitative results to get more valid data. A questionnaire consisted of 17 items used to know the readiness of English teachers, combined with the results on document analysis. Based on the results of the investigation, it showed inconsistent answers of English teachers in the city area and suburb area based on the results on questionnaire and document analysis. English teachers perceived they were ready to insert the 21st-century skills but, based on results on document analysis, it showed English teachers mostly added learning and innovation skills and information, media, and technology skills in the lesson plan. It is suggested English teachers should be more ready by looking up at the standardization of the 21st-century education then combined it with attending seminars on related topics about the implementation of the 21st-century skills.
